Painting image quality. I photograph my painting with a high-quality Canon camera with a good lens. When the photo is taken, the camera records the image in Raw and Jpeg. Most of the time, I select the raw file, open it with specialized software like a dark room, and process the file to match the painting image. The photo is resized to the painting's exact size in inches and saved as a .jpg file at 300 dpi (dots per inch) and 100 percent quality making the file very large. 300 dpi is for printing. The painting image you are looking at is 80 percent quality and 72 dpi, much smaller than the image used to make prints.

Paintings are watermarked on website only.

Note: This painting and its twin to the left are available in painting and print, and both are available until one painting is sold. When one painting base is sold (left), then just prints are available. I have painted a 5 x 15-inch cloud that floats ( View - Click Here ) on top when framed, making two versions available. I've done this before, and it works, adding relief and uniqueness to the two dimensions.

Symbolism - I've been asked about this in these paintings. Here are my thoughts:

The saying "as above, so below" is an ancient quote that means what happens in a higher realm also occurs in a lower realm. It's often attributed to the Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus, an ancient document that influenced Renaissance and Enlightenment philosophies.

The apple with a bite in it is eating the forbidden fruit. To know more than ignorance (higher consciousness) might be seen as the forbidden fruit. I believe it is our reason for being, but there is a price for that - no longer in the garden of innocence. Knowledge doesn't equal happiness; it is knowing the shades of light and the difference between them and dark.
